LESSON: Understanding the Book as a Whole Story
-
Always pray BEFORE you open God's Word and ask Him to guide you and lead you into what it is He wants you to learn.
-
Read the entire Book of Esther all the way through in a literal Bible translation (ESV, BSB, NASB, NKJV, LSB). You can also read it in the CSB or the NLT to simplify your understanding of it. You may need to read it aloud, have someone read it to you (there's an app for that), mark it up, write it out, however it is that you comprehend and remember what you read, do that. It is important to get an overall picture of the entire book before you break it down into chapters.
-
Next, research the background information about this book and fill in the prompts in the workbook that are designated for that information. (There are helpful links for this step in a future lesson)
-
If you are uncertain of a location, a word meaning, a people group, etc. mentioned in the book as you are reading, take the time to do some research, before you begin the weekly study.
I will walk you through this more in-depth in the following lessons.
