LESSON: Background Research

Anytime you read or study the Bible you will need to put yourself into the ancient sandals of the author and also the audience.

In order to help you do this, you will need to spend some time researching who those people are, what the purpose of the book was, what was going on in the culture at that time, and more. Hopefully you already read through the article from Got Questions in the introductory part of this course as that will help you get started on this step.

Towards the front of the Esther Note-taking Bible Book, there are worksheets for you to fill in. This will help guide you in this step. If you cannot find the exact answers according to the categories on the worksheet, that is okay. Just do the best you can!

There is a free PDF copy of the Esther Note-Taking Bible in a future lesson.

Here are some websites that may help you do this research specifically for the Book of Esther (Click the title below to be taken to the website):

  1. Got Questions

  2. Bible-Studys

  3. ESV

  4. John MacArthur
