WEEK 2: Genesis 27-30

Chapter 28: After receiving the blessing, Jacob flees to Haran to escape Esau's anger and to find a wife from among his mother's relatives. On his journey, he has a dream of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending on it. God reaffirms the covenant He made with Abraham and Isaac, promising to give the land to Jacob's descendants.

Chapter 29: Jacob arrives in Haran and meets Rachel, Laban's younger daughter, at a well. He falls in love with her and agrees to work for Laban for seven years in exchange for her hand in marriage. After the seven years are completed, Laban deceives Jacob by giving him Leah, his older daughter, instead of Rachel.

Chapter 30: Jacob marries both Leah and Rachel, and they begin to compete for Jacob's affections by bearing him children. Rachel is initially barren but eventually gives birth to Joseph, Jacob's favorite son. Jacob also becomes wealthy through his flocks and herds, despite Laban's attempts to cheat him.
