Chapter Eight

John 8 is full of powerful moments where Jesus reveals truth and grace. It begins with the story of a woman caught in adultery—religious leaders bring her to Jesus, hoping to trap Him. Instead, He says, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone,” and one by one, they walk away. Jesus tells the woman, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” Later, Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world,” saying those who follow Him will no longer walk in darkness. The religious leaders challenge Him, but Jesus boldly claims His identity, saying He speaks what He hears from the Father. He also drops a huge truth: “Before Abraham was born, I am,” pointing to His eternal existence and divine nature. This enrages the leaders, but Jesus slips away unharmed. The chapter reminds us of Jesus’ grace, His call to leave sin behind, and His clear identity as the Light and the eternal Son of God.
