Chapter Ten

John 10 is all about Jesus as the Good Shepherd. He compares Himself to a shepherd who knows His sheep intimately and leads them to safety, unlike hired hands who don’t care for the sheep. Jesus says, “I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” He promises that His followers will recognize His voice and follow Him, and no one can snatch them out of His hand. He also talks about being the Gate for the sheep, meaning He’s the only way to safety and eternal life. Jesus makes it clear that He came to give life in abundance. Some people believe in Him, but others question Him, even accusing Him of being possessed. Jesus boldly declares that He and the Father are one, and many try to stone Him for this claim, but He escapes. The chapter highlights Jesus’ care, protection, and His ultimate sacrifice for His people, as well as His unity with the Father.
